Thanksgiving Dinner: Cranberry Sauce

Never EVER use canned cranberry sauce for the holiday meals! Nobody will ever touch it again with this simple, easy to follow recipe for cranberry sauce! I first made it last year and it was very well received by my boyfriend and his parents. He asked me a week ago if I’d make it this year. Duh! No canned sauce in this house!


  • 4 Cups Cranberries
  • 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cups Water
  • 1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
  • 4 Strips of Lemon Zest
  • 2 Strips of Orange Zest (Optional)


  1. Simmer all ingredients over medium heat until cranberries pop and the sauce starts to thicken (about 20 minutes); cool.
  2. Serve with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner!
  3. Spend time with friends and family.

Okay maybe only the first step is actual directions but it’s still good advice! Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!
